What is superyacht recruitment?
It is the process of matching qualified crew with private and charter yachts based on the yacht’s itinerary, size, culture, guest expectations and technical requirements.
What certificates do new crew need?
Most entry-level crew require STCW Basic Safety Training and a valid ENG1 or equivalent medical. Additional certificates depend on department and flag state requirements.
Do I need experience?
Experience helps, but attitude, presentation, certificates, references and availability are critical for first roles. Hospitality, watersports, mechanical or luxury service experience can transfer well.
What contracts are common?
Yachts may offer seasonal, temporary, permanent or rotational contracts. Contract type depends on vessel programme, role seniority and owner preference.

Build the perfect yachting CV
- Use a professional head-and-shoulders photo with a neutral background.
- Place name, location, phone, email, nationality, visa status and availability at the top.

Yacht Structure
Most yachts are organised into clear departments under the Captain, with each team responsible for a different part of the vessel experience.
Captain
Overall command of the yacht, safety, compliance, crew management, owner liaison, itinerary planning and operational decision-making.
Deck Department
Led by senior officers and supported by bosuns and deckhands. Responsible for navigation support, exterior maintenance, tenders, watersports, docking, safety drills and guest-facing deck operations.
Engineering Department
